Thomas Connell, a native of Bootle, enlisted on 9 November 1914 and served in France with the 7th Corps Cyclist Battalion, Army Cyclist Corps. His award was made for the rearguard actions made by the unit Lewis Gunners on 21-23 April 1918; sold together with Soldier's Pay Book, postcard with the recipient identified and copied research.
