D.C.M. London Gazette 1 May 1918:
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When acting as runner, he carried messages repeatedly under heavy fire, and displayed an energy and ability which were of great value on several occasions. His gallantry throughout was of the highest order.'
James Bryan, a native of Longton, Staffordshire served in the Balkans with the 7th Battalion from 2 July 1915. His D.C.M. was won in Mesopotamia in March 1917; sold together with copied portrait photograph, MIC and Gazette entry.
