D.C.M. London Gazette 9 July 1917:
‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He displayed great coolness in organising carrying parties under shell fire. He has at all times set a splendid example.’
Thomas John Sloley was born in January 1889 at Brecon, Powys. Listed as a stoker in 1911, he served in France with the Machine Gun Corps and was latterly awarded the Military Cross with the 9th Battalion as a late award for the Somme October 1916 operations. Sloley died at Bridgend in December 1943; sold with copied MIC and research.
