Volunteer Force Long Service Medal (India & Colonies), E.VII.R. (Voltr. T. Mangey E I Ry Voltr Rifls), good very fine

Theodore Adolphus Mangey was born in 1867, scion of a long established Anglo-Indian family. Having joined the East Indian Railways on 23 October 1889, he was listed as a Gunner Guard in the Traffic Department, Raneegung by the end of 1890. Married to seventeen-year-old Emma Chater at the Roman Catholic Chapel at Barrackpore in April 1893, Mangey was awarded his Medal in I.A.O. 123 of 1910. With Emma having passed away, he married Adeline Naylor - who was some fifteen years his junior - in February 1913 at St. Luke's, Dinapore. Mangey died at the Medical College Hospital, Patna on 29 January 1930; sold with copied verification and extracts.
