Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R., India (Trooper C. C. Herd. Punjab L. H., A.F.I.), officially re-impressed naming, very fine

Cyril Charles Herd was born on 1 December 1898, most likely in India. His father was Charles Grant Herd, who had in 1895 been Chief Clerk in the District Superintendent's Office, Bengal Nagpore Railway. Herd joined Spedding & Co., a Lahore timber merchant dealing in Kashmiri hardwoods and joined the Volunteers during early 1921. Awarded the Medal in I.A.O. 475 of 28 March 1941, he returned to England aboard the Empress of Australia in May 1947. At that point his profession was as an Oil Inspector. Herd died at Portsmouth in 1983; sold with copied verification and extracts.
