Five: Rifleman R. Wood, King's Royal Rifle Corps, who witnessed extensive service during the Second World War and was transferred to Greece in 1946 during the Civil War

Raymond Wood lived before the war with his mother and sister at 10 Ash Grove, Ealing, London. He served in North Africa, Italy and Greece with 'B' Company of the 11th Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps - The Queen's Westminster's - attached 23rd Armoured Brigade, and was stationed in Athens and Ekali following the cessation of hostilities. He married a local girl on 7 May 1946, before being posted to Kifisia, one of the northern suburbs of the Greek Capital; sold with an impressive archive of original photographs, many annotated to reverse, including contemporaries during the war, famous places visited including the Pyramids and Parthenon, and some rather splendid images of his wedding day - with five corresponding congratulatory telegrams from friends and family in England.
