1939-45 Star; Africa Star, clasp, 8th Army; Italy Star; Defence and War Medals 1939-45, nearly very fine (5)

Edgar Pimlott was born on 2 July 1907 in Staffordshire, the husband of Constance Mary Pimlott of 26 Charles Street, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. A semi-skilled trimmer and equipment repairer by trade, he enlisted at Farnborough for the Royal Armoured Corps on 3 October 1940, and served as a Trooper in North Africa and Italy. His Testimonial upon leaving the 61st Training Regiment, R.A.C., was extremely positive:

'An industrious and capable worker who has carried out his duties excellently and without supervision. He is a sensible type of man of sober & honest disposition. Working as an equipment repairer in this unit, he has done a great deal of work with entire satisfaction.'

Pimlott was discharged at Barnard Castle on 6 November 1945. He was later granted a 50% disability pension on account of a duodenal ulcer contracted whilst on war service; sold with original Soldier's Service and Pay Book, two card dog tags, impressed '7920035 C E Pimlott', and a tin of contemporary correspondence relating to his pension entitlement and later life.
