James Turner died on 23 September 1944 whilst serving with the 6th Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers in Holland. Aged 28 years, he is buried in the Mierlo War Cemetery which is located 12 kilometres to the east of Eindhoven. It contains the graves of 658 fallen servicemen who died in battle from September-November 1944 in the region south and west of the River Meuse and during the fighting for the Scheldt estuary; sold with copied casualty details.
