Great War Memorial Plaque (Ben Downend),very fine
In its original card envelope of issue together with small portrait photograph of recipient.

Ben Downend, a Private in the 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, enlisted at Barnsley (after previous service in the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry) and died in Mesopotamia on 8 August 1916: he is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
