British War Medal 1914-20 (J.21162 A. E. Sutton. A.B. R.N.), wear to naming and light pitting throughout, good fine
Arthur Ernest Sutton was born on 22 December 1895 at West Ham, London. A riveter by trade, he joined the Royal Navy on his eighteenth birthday and served aboard a wide variety of ships including Irresistible and Formidable. Transferred to the Laforey Class destroyer Llewellyn on 15 April 1914, he spent the Great War serving with the 3rd Destroyer Flotilla at Harwich, likely on patrol duties in the North Sea and English Channel. Sent to the cells for 5 days in 1917, he nevertheless remained with the service into the mid-1920s, being finally discharged to shore on 21 December 1925 having completed 12 years with the Royal Navy; sold with copied service record.
