W. Bullen served with the 2nd Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers during the Boer War and is recorded as a Prisoner of War at Stormberg on 10 December 1899; sold with copied roll entries confirming service as a Bandsman in the Sudan with the 1st Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers.
