1864 (Feb.) blue envelope to Hamburg "via trieste" with boxed "paid" in red struck in Hong Kong, "8" rate mark in blue crayon and other rate marks including handstruck "6" of Trieste; the reverse with a fine strike of oval "forwarded by/dircks & co/swatow" in red (not listed in Rowe) with Hong Kong (28.2) and Hamburg (13.4) c.d.s.; there is some damage to the flap.

An appealing cover which is thought to be the earliest cover from Swatow sent through the British Consular post. Photo


1864年2月汕頭寄漢堡藍色信封， 左上角蓋紅色"VIA TRIESTE" 章， 有香港紅色框型"PAID"戳， 並有藍筆手寫郵資"8"字， 另有其他的郵資記號如Trieste的"6"; 封背有紅色橢圓形汕頭Dick & Co.的轉遞戳， 2月28日香港中轉戳及4月13日漢堡到達戳; 相信此是經英國在汕頭客郵局寄出的最早期封， 罕見.
