1890 (27 Feb.) envelope addressed to the Lieutenant Commander of U.S.S. 'Palos', Chinkiang bearing Shanghai Arms 5c. brown well tied by Shanghai Local Post despatch c.d.s. and, on the reverse, a further despatch c.d.s. and a good strike of "customs/chinkiang" c.d.s. (28.2) in black; the remains of a wax seal have left a stain mark in the centre of the envelope, fine. Signed by Peter Holcombe. Photo

At the begining of the postal service it is thought that a steamship company acted as agents for Chinkiang. At this time the agency had been taken over by the Imperial Maritime Customs. They continued this service until 6 August 1894


1890年2月27日上海寄鎮江封, 貼上海工部雙龍五分棕色票, 銷藍色上海工部日戳, 封面蓋另一枚相同上海工部日戳, 旁有2月28日之黑色鎮江海關日戳, 信封中央殘留曾封有紅漆痕䟢; 保存良好, 具Peter Holcombe的簽署._x000D_ _x000D_ 鎮江郵政服務之始是由來往鎮江的輪船公司代理, 而於此時己被大清海關郵務所取代, 並一直服務至1894年8月6日上.
