1894 (18 Sept.) envelope to Shanghai "per S.S. 'Tatung'" bearing a superb strike of "PAID" in circle struck in deep ultramarine and, on the reverse, a superb strike of "wuhu/local post" c.d.s. in the same colour with faint Shanghai Local Post arrival (20.9) and postman's pencil delivery characters. There is some minor scuffing on the reverse which does not detract from this stunning and important cover. Thought to be the latest of only two examples. Photo


1894年9月18日蕪湖寄上海 per S.S."Tatung"公務封, 蓋深藍色圓型郵資己付(PAID)戳, 封背蓋同色蕪湖信局單圈英文日戳, 旁有較模糊的9月20日上海工部藍色到達戳及郵差手寫記錄; 此時商埠郵票已經發行, 但因屬公務封之故, 封上僅蓋圓型郵資己付(PAID)戳, 目前只發現兩封, 十分珍貴.
