1874 (2 Dec.) blue commercial wrapper to Hong Kong bearing Hong Kong 1863-71 6c. lilac and 8c. bright orange cancelled by the Shanghai type 2 "S1" obliterator in blue and with a large "7" rate mark in red ink, the reverse with Shanghae (11.12) c.d.s. in blue and a fair strike of Shanghae to Hong Kong marine sorter type 8 dated "DE 11/17 74" (Webb's Guide RR); the manuscript despatch details are written on the inside flap. There are a couple of folding creases and a few bleached tone spots. A rare and important cover. This marine sorter datestamp was only in use between 1874 and 1876 and was applied only on letters addressed to Hong Kong, letters to other countries would have been sorted in Hong Kong. Photo


1874年12月2日寄香港藍色商業封套, 貼香港1863-71年6c.及8c., 銷上海橢圓2型"S1"藍色戳, 旁有手寫紅色大"7"字為法國郵船1/4盎司的內埠郵資, 封套背有藍色上海12月11日郵戳, 此外尚有由上海往香港揀信郵船的8型戳, 日期是1874年12月11-17日(Webb's 指引RR級); 而派遞細節手寫於封套內側, 封套有數處摺痕及黃斑, 這是一件頗為珍罕的封套, 因該輪船戳只被使用於1874至1876年之間, 並且只用於寄往香港為目的地之信函上, 寄往其他國家的信件則會在香港分類而中轉寄出.
