1896 (28 Sept.) 2ca. card to Augustine Henry of the Imperial Maritime Customs, Mong-tse, Yunnan "via Haiphong" bearing the Chungking oblong datestamp in purple with a good strike of "laokay/tonkin" (10.11) c.d.s. below. A rare and extraordinary card. There was no direct route to Montze so this card was carried down river to Shanghai, thence by paquebot and rail to Haiphong and its destination. The message is written by Archibald Little. There is a vertical crease and some light tone spots. This is the only recorded item to Yunnan transiting through Vietnam. Photo

1896年9月28日重慶寄雲南蒙自銀二分郵資片, 寄件人於左下端註明經海防(Haiphone), 銷紫色長方框型中英文日戳, 其下蓋11月10日老街/東京(Laokay/Tonkin)日戳, 這是一極為珍罕的郵資片, 由於當時沒有直接的郵路往蒙自, 需先由水路沿長江遞往上海, 再經海路往海防, 然後沿北越紅河上溯老街轉河口再郵遞抵雲南蒙自, 片有黃斑及些老化; 但此片是存世僅見由重慶經越南到雲南的銀二分郵資片._x000D_ _x000D_ 源流: 1992年9月Frederick and Tomiko Barlett.
