Combination with Shanghai Local Post: 1894 (25 May) 1c. Shanghai Local Post envelope (Livingston E1) addressed to Hall & Holtz in Shanghai, opened out and bearing clean cut perf.11½ 3ca. tied by Tientsin seal type X in black and, on the reverse, Customs Tientsin despatch c.d.s., faint Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. (28.5) and pencil delivery instructions. A fine and rare combination. Photo

The Small Dragon 3 candarins stamp paid the domestic postal rate from Peking to Tientsin, and the envelope was subsequently passed from the Tientsin Customs Post to the Shanghai Local Post, with the 1 cent envelope paying for the Local Post. It was felt that the Shaghai Local Post was more efficient, making the premiun worthwhile.


上海工部混貼剖開封：1894年5月25日上海工部ー仙郵資封寄上海Hall & Holtz(福利公司)收，貼小龍十一度半三分銀票，銷天津黑色橢圓中文戳，背面蓋天津海關派發戳及到達上海時蓋5月28日上海工部日戳，及一些鉛筆寫的派發指引，保存完好及罕見之混貼封._x000D_ _x000D_ 源流：1998年5月Beckeman 郵集; 小龍三分票付由北京至天津國內郵資，後來信封經天津海關再轉遞上海工部，而一仙工部封則付上海本地郵資，使投遞更有效及合算.
