1928 "Ile de France" Issue
10fr. on 90c. red and 10fr. on 1fr.50c. blue, two marginal examples from the bottom of the sheet, centred to upper left, very lightly hinged, the "Berthelot" example with part of "new-york au havre/d" octagonal datestamp applied over the gum on reverse. 2,536 units of "Berthelot" and 1,000 units of "Pasteur" were sold, of which 1,401 and 750 were not postally used. A very fine set which is very difficult to find exhibiting sheet margin. Calves and Roumet certificates (1978), "Berthelot" additionally signed by Gálvez and Mikulski, "Pasteur" with signatures of Serrane, A. Diena, Mikulski and Oliva. Spink Maury 3, 4; €16,200+. Photo
