The first printing of 10,000 was placed on sale on 15 December 1884. for correspondence within the Straits Settlements and the Protected Native States, and could be addressed to Johore.
1895 (31 Dec.) 1c. green card addressed locally cancelled by Singapore c.d.s., redirected on 2.1.96, taken by "Rosetta" via Penang (9.1) to Colombo (13.1), then on 16.1 by "Oceana" via Aden to Port Said arriving 28.1.; redirected again via Marseilles (3.2) to Amsterdam (5.2). Very unusual as by regulations, the 1c card, issued for local use, cannot be sent or re-directed outside the S.S. or the Malay States unless extra charge is paid. Photo
