1794 (17 Mar.) entire letter from Langford Lovell to Christopher Bethell in London, rated "1/-" and showing mainly fine "antigua" handstamp (Proud Type PS11 State 2 with dropped second "a") with arrival datestamp (22.4) on reverse. The contents include apprehensions of a rupture with America owing to capture of their vessels by the British. Hope that news from London will prevent misunderstanding but the Americans are clamorous for war and the fall of Martinico expected daily. Photo
