Mail from Canada
1859 (Sept.) "Circular" (no side flaps or contents) to Charlotte Town, bearing ½d. lilac-rose on medium wove paper cancelled with light indistinct four-ring numeral cancellation, the reverse with fine double-arc datestamp for 12 October. Most attractive and the only stamped Circular recorded to Prince Edward Island. Photo

Note: The Circular rate to the Maritime Provinces was the same rate as for Circulars mailed within Canada and was effective from late 1854 to 30 June 1859. This cover is illustrated in Arfken, Leggett, Firby and Steinhart (page 161)
