Shanghai - Tihwa Line - Resumption of Flights
Tihwa - Tahcheng Leg: 1933 (20 July) 2c. reply paid postal stationery card, uprated 1c. to Tahcheng and cancelled by Tihwa (Urumtsi) c.d.s., arrived at Tahcheng on 21 July. The reply, with similar 1c. stamp cancelled by Tahcheng bilingual c.d.s. (25.7) with Tihwa arrival (31.1). A very good reply card; there was no need for special air mail postage as this was a trial flight. Photo
This card confirms that, although the plane arrived in Tahcheng on 22nd November it did not leave until 26th, arriving in Tihwa on the same day. Post cards sent by air mail are rare. This is the earliest air mail card sent from Tahcheng.
Flights on this route beyond Lanchow were suspended on 23 September 1933 due to Kumal Rebellion
