1941 (21 Nov.) envelope to U.S.A. bearing 10c. on 25c. tied by Pingnam Chinese/English c.d.s.; sent via Hong Kong where it was detained by the Japanese occupation. The reverse with a label attached which reads, "After returned from Hongkong where it was originally sent through, and kept for a long time owing to hostilities, this letter is now forwarded via Chungking" which is tied by Canton 1942 (20 Nov.) c.d.s., the address side with Chungking (14.12) and Tihwa (1.2) in purple and there is a circular U.S. censor handstamp. Redirected on arrival and originally sent from the Catholic Mission in Wuchow in Kwangsi. A rare item of this delayed mail. Sent 10c. printed paper rate. Photo
This mail probably did not reach Hong Kong and was held in Canton. The mail which was held in Hong Kong was not released until the Japanese surrender, some three years later
