recorded the appropriate shipping news often permitting the ship's identification

1823 (30 Nov.) entire letter from William Tucker "pr. H.M.S. Sparrowhawke" (a Naval vessel) to Aston near Derby, rated "1/4" (deleted) and "1/7" and showing step-type "portsmouth/ship letter" (S13) in red, London datestamp on reverse; the contents mentioning the loss of his situation as Barrack Mastership for life and the limited state of his circumstances
