1918 (11 November) Army Signals telegram to 109 Brigade Office sent from "G288"; "Following message received from Ind Army at 0015 from GHQ begins aaa Hostilities will cease at 1100 on Nov 11 aaa Troops will stand fast on line reached at that hour which will be reported by wire to GHQ aaa Defensive precautions will be maintained aaa There will no intercourse of any description with the enemy until receipt of instructions from GHQ aaa Further instructions follows aaa Ends aaa added all concerned". The telegram bears the Army Telegraphs "ZJI" datestamp. A highly important military communication. Photo
109 Brigade was part of the British Second Army, XV Corps. THe Second Army was the most northerly of the British Armies in France and they occupied the ten mile front between Voorde and Lessines. This message was received at "1052", only eight minutes before the ceasefire
