1911 (28 November) Sale Catalogue; Final Edition. Auction of the contents of the Crystal Palace, before it burnt down. Grey card cover (some peripheral soiling) with photograph and list of auctioneers and solicitors.
This 68 page catalogue of the Sale of Crystal Palace, Sydenham consisting of 200 acre estate and the contents of the Palace, including the large displays in the trancepts, the Chinese Court, the Egyptian Court, the Greek Court, the Roman Court, the Alhambra Court, the Byzantine Court, the English Medieval Court, the Renaissance Court and the French Court. In addition there were fountains, swimming bath, theatre and lots of other rooms and galleries plus features in the grounds such as the dinosaur reconstructions. Lavishly illustrated with sepia pictures from its construction, various features including the different courts, the opening ceremony and other events held here concluding with the opening ceremony of the Festival of Empire in 1911 and other illustrations of this final event. Other line drawings include the Reception of the Duke of Edinburgh and Prince of Wales in 1868, The Visit of the Shah in 1873, the Visit of the Empress of Russia in 1874 and several others plus lengthy descriptions throughout. This catalogue is missing the original plan but the contents are still in good order
