(1914) (12 August) A.L.S. to Lady Playfair written in his personal stationery showing the coronet of a viscount, written from Banchory in Aberdeenshire, he was staying with Miss Hutchinson, who had just lost her sister and was not going out, but still grateful for her invitation. Signed "Yours very truely, Kitchener" With illustration of Lord Kitchener affixed at a later date

Edith Russell of Boston was the third wife of Lyon Playfair. Her 1884 portrait by John Singer Sergeant is in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts
