Coffee House Letters
1759-1846 a collection of covers addressed to or from Coffee Houses, mostly in London, including to and from (2) Furnival's Inn, to New Exchange Coffee House, to New Hammums in Covent Garden and from Old Hammums, from George's Coffee House, from Hibbottson's Hotel, to and from Grays Inn Hotel, to Hakes's Hotel Manchester Square (2), Free front to London Hotel in Albermarle Street; other cities with redirected to Bulls Head Inn, Loughborough, The Bell Inn, Oxford Hill Norwich and 1759 entire letter from Gibraltar to Leigh Coffee House in Edinburgh. This last letter is an example of the abuse of franking privilege, the letter was written by John Wight, who was not entitled to Free Postage and at the end of his letter he writes, "Direct your letters to the care of Mr Ross in Conduit Street, London. Forward the enclosed"
