1558 (c.) exchequer warrant, "Robert Kichman one of the Ordinary Messengers of the queen's majesty Chamber asketh allowance for riding in all hast with l(ett)ers from my Lord Treasurer's place at London by the commandment of the queen majesty's most honourable privy council into Essex to the sheriff of Essex & Herts & to hym delivered a l(ett)er and so with like speed returned again to London. ... I was out this journey the space of iiii days." and, in another hand, "ten shillings & viii pence" and bearing a fine signature "Winchester" at foot. Some aging and water stains, otherwise in a good state of preservation. Photo
