1555 (21 May) letter on laid paper to John Godsalve, Thomas Fleton and Christopher Robynson instructing them to make copies of certain treaties and other documents which were to be sent to Calais for the Lord Chancellor and other royal ambassadors. The sum to be paid to them being £20. Signed at foot "Winchester"


The address panel with, "allocatio termino pasch. Annis primo & secondo". Repaired tear at foot and small punch hole with trivial foxing. Offered with woodblock print of the First Marquis of Winchester. Photo

William Paulet, 1st Marquess of Winchester (c. 1483/1485 – 1572) held various high offices, notable as Lord High Treasurer between 1550 and 1572


Sir John Godsalve (ca. 1505 – 1556), of London and Norwich, Norfolk, was an English politician. At this time he served as a receiver of petitions in the House of Lords
