Bank of Mauritius, 1000 rupees, 1998, serial number BB 460624, blue on multicolour underprint, portrait Sir Charles Gaetan Duval at centre left, bank building facade in background at centre, arms low left, reverse, ladies dancing on beach
(TBB B18, Pick 47), uncirculated, from the famous 1998 series which was very quickly withdrawn from circulation due to the incorrect order of languages on the front of the note which caused rioting in the streets. The notes were quickly recalled and replaced in the same year. The 1000 denomination as scarce as the 2000 denomination
