Malaysia, Johore, The Most Illustrious Order of the Crown of Johore, Star, 62mm, platinum, white gold with screw back-plate and enhanced with a multitude of precious stones, the rays of the arms entirely set with individually set, graduated and matched diamonds, the Garter also with small diamonds, the crescent and stars set with a total of 50 rubies and the Crown finished with diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds, unmarked, nearly extremely fine, of the finest quality manufacture and most striking
The Most Illustrious Order of the Crown of Johore (Seri Paduka Mahkota Johor) is the oldest of the Malaysian Orders, having been established on 31 July 1886. Awarded in three classes each year in the Birthday Honours of the Sultan of Johore, it is also the scarcest of all Malaysian Orders, with only around 5 being conferred each year. Awarded entirely at the discretion of the Sultan, it is awarded for loyalty, personal Royal service and diligence.
This Star totals approximately 3.0 carats of 8-point diamonds, these indiviudally set and cut into the frame, the Garter diamonds being gypsy-set. The sapphires in the Crown are square-cut, the Crown itself being applied and set individually. Diamonds and gems aside, the Star has around 45g of platinum and 25g of 18 carat white gold. The quality and method of construction is particularly impressive.
