Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 1st issue (7 W. C. Miller, St. P.O., R.N.V.R.), extremely fine

The recipient's L.S. & G.C. Medal was sent to him in the aircraft carrier H.M.S. Illustrious in October 1945; it was subsequently returned and issued to him at his home address in March 1946. His name appears on a roll of H.M.S. Illustrious's crew for 1944-45, published in the Beacon Annual, so we may be sure he witnessed much action in the Pacific theatre of war in that period: on 29 January 1945, at the height of a Japanese Kamikaze attack, 12 members of crew were killed by friendly fire.
