Paton Muirhead was embarked for Egypt in September 1915 and landed at 'W' Beach, Cape Helles, Gallipoli on 11 October 1915, where his unit - the 1/1st Lanarkshire Yeomanry - was attached to 52nd (Lowland) Division. It subsequently saw action in 'The Vineyard' and 'Horseshoe' sectors on the Eski Line and suffered heavy casualties, so much so that its ranks had to be reinforced by the 1/1st Ayrshire Yeomanry in December 1915.
Muirhead was subsequently commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery in September 1917; sold with copied MIC and census information.
