William Austin was born at Marston Green, Birmingham in March 1900 and joined the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve in August 1917. He subsequently served in the battleship H.M.S. Neptune from March 1918 until April 1919, in which latter month he was demobilised as an Able Seaman; sold with copied service record.
