Q.F.), minor official corrections to last, edge bruising and a little polished, otherwise generally very fine (5)

Charles Oliver Longhurst was born at Portslade, Sussex in June 1885 and entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in April 1901. Having then been awarded the Naval Good Shooting Medal whilst serving as an Able Seaman in a Q.F. 12-Pounder Gun Team in the battleship H.M.S. Britannia in 1912, he was employed ashore in the opening years of the Great War. In May 1917, however, he joined the battleship Malaya, in which capacity he remained actively employed until March 1919. Longhurst, who was advanced to Petty Officer in October 1917, added the L.S. & G.C. Medal to his accolades in November 1924 and was pensioned ashore in the following year; sold with copied service record.
