Arthur Peter Cole was born in Brighton, Sussex on 9 March 1890 and originally enlisted as a boy recruit in the King's Liverpool Regiment in October 1894. Having then attended the Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall, Twickenham, he was discharged on the termination of his first period of engagement in October 1906.
Cole subsequently enlisted in the King's Royal Rifle Corps in February 1907 and was appointed a Band Corporal in India in December 1909, where he received the Delhi Durbar Medal in 1911.
Embarked for France in December 1914, he was advanced to Lance-Sergeant in 27th Division's band in April 1915. Early in the following year, he was embarked for the Salonika front, where he remained employed for the remainder of the war. He was demobilised as a Sergeant Bugler in early 1919 and died in London in June 1949; sold with a file of copied research.
