An Old Contemptible's group of four awarded to Captain S. E. Harvey, 1st (King's) Dragoon Guards

Appointed a Lieutenant in the 1st (King's) Dragoon Guards in October 1906, Harvey was placed on half-pay on account of ill-health in May 1910. Recalled on the outbreak of hostilities, he was appointed a Captain in his old regiment and arrived in France on 11 November 1914. By September 1915 he was commanding 'B' Squadron and, according to War Services of Officers of the Army 1920, he was wounded. He remained in France until May 1918, latterly serving on the Staff.
