Kenneth Edward Gammer was mentioned in despatches 'in recognition of gallant and distinguished services' as a Leading Airman aboard the aircraft carrier H.M.S. Eagle during operations in the Near East in October-December 1956 (London Gazette 13 June 1957, refers); about 30 R.N. Petty Officers and ratings were likewise honoured for the Suez Crisis and Operation "Musketeer", six of them from Eagle.
