The 1st Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders served in the Zakka Khel campaign in February 1908, at Landi Kotal in May 1908 and also as part of the Mohmand Field Force. During the former campaign the unit expended 20,136 .303 rounds, more than any other unit engaged; see North West Frontier 1908: The Zakka Khel & Mohmand Campaigns, by Peter Duckers (Spink, London, 2006).
