(x) Punjab 1848-49, 2 clasps, Chilianwala, Goojerat (J. Irwin, 24th Foot.), contact marks, very fine

At the Battle of Chilianwala on 13 January 1849, the 24th Foot arrived on the field ahead of time and, with orders not to fire, gallantly fixed bayonets and charged the enemy guns: of the resultant 500 casualties, 214 were killed in action.
