1813, folded letter from New Orleans with "Indias" of Havana, dated June 21 and addressed to Veracruz, Mexico, datelined in New Orleans, from where it may have been carried privately to Havana, entering the mails in Cuba to be forwarded to a Spanish destination, bearing small “Indias” straight-line handstamp in red (P.E. 37), and rated on arrival with “3” reales due marking, as stipulated by the 1812 tariff for an unpaid single weight letter; very fine, only four items are recorded with this Cuban postmark used before 1821, its usage being most remarkable on mail originating from Louisiana;
