The following six lots were presented to James Hamilton Esq. on the eve of the amalgamation of the states' postal departments into a federal department.

1901 Federal Presentation set of stamps (31) comprising Postage ½d. to 2/-, Postage Due ½d. to 5/- and Stamp Duty 2/6d. to £1, all cancelled to order with Melbourne c.d.s., and postal stationery postcards (4), envelopes (2), letter card, registered envelope and wrappers (2) similarly cancelled; also the letter from the Post Office and Telegraph Department that accompanied these items
