1872 (4 Dec.) envelope from Renwicktown to Ashburton River, Canterbury, bearing 1871-73 2d. orange cancelled by c.d.s. and showing "too late blenheim" handstamp (deleted by pen stroke) possibly applied in error for a Missent marking; accompanied by 1864 envelope (closed tear at right) from Blenheim to England bearing imperforate 6d. red-brown with very light indistinct cancellation and tied by the same Too Late handstamp; an unusual pair and believed to be the sole two examples of this handstamp recorded.
