1874 (16 Feb.) Officer's envelope to Aldershot, marked "No stamps procurable in Ashanti", "cape-coast-castle" c.d.s. and London arrival d.s. (16.3) c.d.s. and, on reverse, rare "2b/liverpool/ps packet" c.d.s. (16.3), Farnborough Station (17.3) and Aldershot camp (17.3) datestamps. Minor damage to edges, still a rare and interesting cover, addressed to Gonville Bromhead, who fought in Ashanti and later received the Victoria Cross for his role in the defence of Rourke's Drift.
