Main promotor of the Kaiser Franz Josephs-Bahn was the diplomat and large landowner Johann Adolf II. Fürst zu Schwarzenberg (1799-1888). Schwarzenberg was president of the business clubs in Prague and Vienna. He initiated this railway primarily for the transport of coal from Pilsen into Vienna. He founded the company in 1866 to build the railway line between Vienna and Prague. In 1884, the company was nationalised. With print signature of Fürst zu Schwarzenberg.
