1897 (20 May) opened-out envelope to Lieut. Bleudas on H.M.S. 'Crescent' serving on the North America Squadron at Halifax, Nova Scotia, bearing Small Figures 10c. on 6ca. tied by blue pa-kua with "customs/tientsin" c.d.s. alongside, also in blue, plus Japan 5s. Koban tied by "shanghai/i.j.p.o." c.d.s.; the reverse with Shanghai Dollar chop in reddish black, Yokohama (17.6), Vancouver (30.6) and part Halifax c.d.s. There is a light horizontal crease at top which affects the adhesives. A very good cover to an unusual destination, routed via Vancouver. Photo
