1897 (15 July) opened-out envelope to U.S.A. "via Japan" bearing 1c. on 3c. with vertical pair of Large Figures, Narrow Setting 2c. on 2ca. yellow-olive tied by Foochow Dollar chops, with Japan 5s. Koban alongside tied by "shanghai/j.p.o." c.d.s.; the reverse bearing Shanghai Dollar chop (17.7), Yokohama (24.7) Boston (15.8) and New Lenox arrival. A fresh and attractive cover.
One of only nine Revenue Surcharge covers cancelled by the Foochow Dollar chop.
