1890 (8 Jan.) opened-out envelope to Vermont, U.S.A. bearing, on the reverse, 3ca. pale purple tied by Peking seal in blue with the despatch c.d.s. alongside, with Customs Tientsin (9.1) and Shanghai (23.1) with San Francisco and Rutland arrival; the address side with U.S. 1887-88 Garfield 5c. indigo with black bars cancellation with the double-oval "u.s. postal agency/shanghai" dated oval in purple (31.1) alongside. A little roughly opened at top and some strengthening on the reverse around the adhesive, nevertheless a clean and attractive cover.


The 3ca. only covered the inland mail, the U.S. stamp also affixed by the sender
