1876 (1 Apr.) opened-out Lovatt envelope to Minnisota, U.S.A. "Via San Francisco" bearing U.S. 1875 Taylor 5c. blue tied by cork obliterator with a fair strike of "u.s.postal agency/shanghai" c.d.s. (14.4) and San Francisco transit (20.5) alongside. The reverse bears a very fine strike of "customs/kiukiang" c.d.s. in a deep red shade with a good strike of similar Shanghai Customs c.d.s. (13.4) alongside; there is some faint manuscript added which does not detract from this early Customs cover.
